"Cardiovascular disease" describes diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Such diseases affect the heart's ability to function normally, and are the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Some cardiovascular conditions are present at birth (congenital), while others develop over time.
By partnering with the New England Heart Institute, our patients benefit from local access to the state's largest cardiac program. This program specializes in diagnostic and interventional techniques, advances in cardiac surgery, detection and treatment of heart-rhythm disturbances, and includes a comprehensive heart failure management program and an active cardiovascular research program. All outpatient consults and the majority of diagnostic testing will take place at Catholic Medical Center. The majority of the surgical interventions and inpatient procedures will be performed locally at Catholic Medical Center, and, only if necessary, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. |
